Aripeka is a Gulf-front fishing village of about 300 people, built on both sides of Hammock Creek where Pasco County meets Hernando. Named for a Seminole chief, it has stayed small and salty while the rest of the coast built up around it. Salt air is the defining service problem here, since condensers within the first mile of the Gulf corrode years ahead of their inland twins.
