The XV equipment reports faults as text on the thermostat rather than blink codes, which saves a diagnostic step. What is less useful is that a marginal connection at the outdoor board makes the system drop to backup mode and run as a single-stage unit. Your bills climb and nothing appears broken.
The durability cuts both ways. We are regularly called to sixteen and twenty year old Trane equipment where the compressor is fine but the coil is leaking and the refrigerant is R-22. We will give you the repair number and the replacement number and let you decide.
