R.M. Mechanical is not a franchise or a call center with a local phone number. The initials are Robert Moran's, he has run the company since 2001, and the license every job is permitted under is his personally: Florida Certified Air Conditioning Contractor #CAC1820870.

That matters more in this trade than it might elsewhere. A Florida contractor's license is held by a person, not a brand. When a company changes hands or a franchise sells a territory, the license does not automatically follow. Asking whose license your installation is permitted under is a fair question to put to any contractor, and here the answer is the same person whose name is on the door.

Two decades in Tampa Bay, not a national playbook

Everything R.M. Mechanical knows about cooling a house was learned in this climate. Salt air off the Gulf that eats condenser coils in Dunedin and Madeira Beach. Afternoon storms through August that load a system with humidity every day. Block homes in older parts of St. Petersburg and Tampa with ductwork that predates the equipment attached to it, and subdivisions in Wesley Chapel and Riverview where two zones fight each other across two floors.

Those are not details you pick up from a manufacturer's training video. They are the reason the same equipment performs differently three towns apart, and why sizing a replacement here is a different job from sizing one in Georgia.

Certified across the brands people actually own

R.M. Mechanical is factory-certified to install and service Carrier, Midea, Rheem, LG and Goodman equipment, for both residential and commercial customers. Certification means training on that manufacturer's current equipment and the ability to carry out warranty work rather than sending you back to whoever installed it.

In practice it also means a straight answer when a system fails. Some equipment is worth repairing at ten years old and some is not, and the honest recommendation depends on the brand, the failure, and what the rest of the system looks like.
